The votes are in

Yesterday was the final day for elections at the jr high. Alex and Kirsti both made it for the interview portion. Meaning the student body voted them in, but the final decision is made by teachers, through interviews. I'm thrilled that they both made it that far.

Before the interviews started, they were all warned not to say um, uh, or like. When Kirsti had her interview she was thrown off by a couple of the questions and said um... before she answered the question. She didn't make it and feels the reason was mostly because of that. I'm amazed at her attitude about it though. Instead of being upset, mopey, and sad that she didn't make it she is excited that so many of her freinds made it and knows what she needs to work on for next years election.

Alex was sooo excited about making it for the interview portion that after her interview she called home to tell me that she had had her interview. She was so happy and bubbly. When they announced the names of the winners neither Alex's nor Kirsti's name was mentioned so she grabbed her bags to leave. Some of her friends that did get called were crying that she had to leave, then one of the teachers told her she needed to stick around for a minute. That is when she found out that she really did make it. She was even more excited when she found out that she made it for Student Body Secretary. Which, in her interview, when they asked her if she could get any position she wanted which one would it be. Her answer was " I think it would be really cool to be the Student Body Secretary."

Alex is sad that some of her friends that she wanted to work with didn't make it but she is so excited to have this opportunity. I just know she'll do a fabulous job.

I'm so proud of both of them. Alex for making it and having the opportunity to do something so exciting for her. And Kirsti for her positive attitude, even though she didn't make it. Yesterday Alex said to her "Wow Kirsti, I'm impressed with how well you are handling this. Last year, I cried when I didn't make it." Her positive outlook has made a good impression on others at her school too.

Way to go girls!

I hope Kailee shows similiar interest when the time comes. I think it does wonders for your self-esteem. You are able to build such a good network of friends.

Congratulations again! I think it is so hard to try for something like that because if you don't make it, you feel like you fail in front of all of your peers. Your girls both have amazing attitudes. I am very impressed!
