We were lucky enough to get tickets to conference today, (thanks to uncle Martin). The kids were so excited to go. The opportunity to be in the same room was so exciting for them.
Conference was great and I was amazed at how reverent they all were. All throughout the session we didn't have to remind them to be reverent once. Especially amazing since we were sitting with their cousins and what kid is not excited to sit with their cousins during church. They were thrilled to have the opportunity to be there.
Their excitement was increased when after the prayer we had the kids walk towards the end of our row (we were sitting by the doors where the general authorities come in and out) so they could get a better view and maybe get the chance to shake hands with someone as they passed by. Just as they all got to the end, one of the ushers came up and asked if it would be okay if she took our kids up to shake hands with the prophet. WOW! We thought he was just going to shake their hands over the railing but to our surprise he actually came down to where they were at and shook each of their hands. Taking time to talk to them too.
What a wonderful experience for them. I hope they will always remember the way they felt when they got to shake hands with the prophet.

when i was about 10, President Hinkley came to Pittsburgh. I remember drawing a picture of him and his wife. Right after prayer I ran up to the front and got to shake his hand. I didn't want to bathe for days.
Oh, what a awesome memory for all of you! That's great!
That is so awesome! I'm sure your kids will never forget that experience. I would love to watch my kids shake hands with the prophet. How neat. I hope that they all came home and wrote about it in their journals (okay, the ones who can write!) How exciting. Thank you for sharing that!
We already talked about this on the phone, but I saw President Monson walk down off the stand and go towards people. I didn't know it was YOU! I am so glad you made your kids write down how they felt.
