Talking through the wall

Harrisen's room is right next to ours, and sometimes after I tuck him in at night he likes to talk to me through the wall. Last night was one of these nights. Here is how the conversation went.

H: Moomm, MOM!

M: What sunshine?

H: Are you asleep?

M: No.

H: Are you trying to sleep?

M: Yes son, are you trying to go to sleep?

H: Yes but, well I was just thinking.

M: About what son?

H: About the book you just read to me, the one with the colors.

(I had just read a lift the flap book about colors to him)

M: What about it?

H: Well, I was just wondering how they make that kind of book?

M: That's a good question son, how about if we see if we can figure it out tomorrow okay?

H: Okay, Thanks mom. Goodnight.

M: Goodnight son.

These talks are so cute because he doesn't even want me to come into his room. He just wants me to talk to him through the wall. Like he needs to know that I'm going to bed too, so he knows he isn't missing anything. I'm sure it is just a phase but I wanted to record at least one of his through the wall conversations before he grows out of this phase.

That is so funny. I love that he does that. Someday it will be really sad when it stops. :( As much as we want them to just be quiet and go to sleep, those funny little things right before bed are so sweet. I know I'll miss those kinds of little things someday.

I remember at that age when Amelia told my mom that she wanted us to build a little window inbetween our rooms so she could hear what we were saying.

Harrisen is so cute. I am glad you share all of his darlingness (is that even a word?!?!?!) with us!

That's so cute, you must have some really thin walls to have a conversation that long!
