We began our day with the local parade. I love going to the parade and watching all the colorful floats that people have created. Float making seems to be becoming a lost art these days. True floats are few and far between. Yet there were a few cool ones at our parade this year, although I did not take pictures of all of them, here are a couple of good ones. ( The pirate one was cool and unusually it did not advertise anything. It had a cool cannon that they would blast every few yards.)
The kids had fun looking at the America's history museum books that we have. We have one about America's Presidents, and one about the Declaration of Independence. They are way cool and the kids find them entertaining. I thought it was great that they were learning about this kind of thing on Independence Day.

The adults just sat around and talked. We were indoors because it was super windy and besides the kids were having a water fight! who wants to be caught in the middle of that?

The three musketeers, (who bought their matching outfits at the mall yesterday), decided to eat theirs with a plastic knife. What were they thinking?
The idea of Homemade ice cream brought the rest of the kids in from the water fight. Mean mom would not let them eat inside unless they got out of their wet clothes first.
My Nephew Brodey (rarely caught on camera) was caught snitching chips during clean-up. I'm just glad I got this shot in before he turned from the camera.
After the BBQ we went to the fireworks.
You have to go early to be able to find a spot to watch because there are so many people there. So to kill time we helped the kids sell glow sticks to the people waiting for the fireworks to starts. We did this last year too, and I have to say, we did better last year. I think people must have got the idea from us last year because we had a lot of competition this year compared to last year. But the kids still had fun and now they have some extra spending money.
When we made it back to where we had our blankets the kids played with the extra glow sticks until the fireworks started.

Madison was still having fun with her glow sticks.
Have I Mentioned that I love The 4th of July?

I can't think about that family leaving. They will certainly leave a hole in their wake. I am sad I missed the bbq. Sophie was wiped from the carnival and parade and would NOT WAKE UP!
The forth was fun. We found a secret spot for the fireworks and went there. They weren't near as big as the ones at that one park that is in our city, but it wasn't crowded and we parked super close and were out of there in five minutes...no joke. Ahhhh.
You guys do the 4th the right way! I LOVE the water fights, the home made ice cream, the BBQs, the parades, the fireworks. AAAHHH! You are awesome! And I love the pictures!
Lana fell asleep before fireworks were over too! Stinker. And Rylee wimped out and went to bed a few minutes after we started fireworks. Even bigger stinker!
Glad you had a good fourth! Your kids all looked darling too!
Sounds like your 4th was lots of fun. Jon's family has a huge reunion over the 4th, but we met up with my family for the fireworks in Lava. It was lots of fun. However, I have to say that I miss the parades and fireworks here at home. Oh well. My mom and I were talking about having a family reunion with our family sometime next year. Hopefully we'll be able to have a lot of people come!
